Job Title: After School Assistant Director

This is a full-time role at Aspire Monarch Academy in Oakland, CA.

Job Summary

The After School Assistant Director supports the planning and operations of a high-quality, personalized afterschool program. Responsibilities include assisting the After School Director with administrative tasks such as attendance, payroll, parent communication, overseeing volunteers, ordering supplies, maintaining files, and providing logistical support.

Essential Functions

Daily Operations:

  • Maintain accurate student records and submit reports as per Aspire procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Open and close the program in the absence of the Director.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about attendance and behavior.
  • Assist with student performance data analysis and assessments.
  • Provide classroom or small group support as needed.
  • Support logistical and clerical tasks for the program.

Team Leadership:

  • Create an environment of high expectations for learning and behavior.
  • Foster a culture of college preparation.
  • Develop behavior management systems.
  • Oversee tutors, contractors, and volunteers.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support Aspire’s mission, vision, and values, including anti-racism policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and facilitate teamwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of youth development and learning styles.
  • Willingness to reflect and improve performance.
  • Spanish bilingual preferred.

Minimum Educational Level: Associates degree or 48 college credits; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience Required:

  • Experience working with children or youth.
  • Administrative or management experience in related settings preferred.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Repetitive hand use and normal depth perception.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods.

Work Authorization:

  • Clear DOJ background check.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Provide TB clearance.

Work Environment

Work is performed mainly indoors in an office, classroom, or outdoor setting, with possible exposure to dust, chemicals, and childhood illnesses. Flexibility in working hours may be required.

Compensation

Aspire offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including paid time off, health coverage, life insurance, retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, and adoption assistance. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $30.20 to $54.71, based on experience.
