Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant

Job Status: Full-Time

Minimal Qualifications

Education: Certification in Medical Assisting preferred. High-school diploma required

Experience: One-year CMA experience preferred. Healthcare experience required

Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a key member of Palmetto Digestive Health Specialists and is responsible for providing clinical expertise and ensuring all patients receive high quality care with excellent customer service.

Job Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to examination rooms to prepare for physician
  • Interview patients to obtain medical history, medication and chief complaint
  • Collect patient’s height, weight, and vital signs
  • Explain treatment plans, medications, or physicians’ instructions to patients.
  • Communicate with outside medical facilities to schedule patients for tests or admission
  • Obtain prior authorizations for patients’ medication or testing
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping rooms clean and neat
  • Dispose of contaminated supplies
  • Perform administrative duties such as: answering phones, completing insurance/FMLA forms, scheduling appointments or procedures for patients
