About the Role

MWH is currently seeking an Area Manager to support business development, operations, and administrative activities. This role involves providing leadership, strategy, and direction for construction management services.

Essential Functions

  • Initiate and maintain client relationships to develop new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with regional and business development managers to develop market entry strategies.
  • Manage financial aspects of the Southern California CMS group to ensure profitability.
  • Prepare documentation for operational and risk management review.
  • Develop and maintain project leads and coordinate marketing activities.
  • Work with marketing/proposal teams to develop proposals and prepare for major pursuits.
  • Lead the development of project proposals and responses to RFQs and RFPs.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with other MWH units to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage multiple large projects simultaneously, leading teams through complex assignments.
  • Recruit, develop, and supervise construction management staff, ensuring proper staffing and training.
  • Establish and implement project management policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and company policies, promoting a safe work environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or equivalent.
  • CCM or PMP certification required; consideration given to PE candidates willing to obtain CCM or PMP within 12 months.
  • Strong client service, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience with proposal/RFP processes and project management systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in project control systems, cost control, and quality management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in municipal water/wastewater project management.
  • Experience as an owner representative in municipal projects in Southern California.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range is $170,000 to $220,000 per year, depending on experience.
