PARK MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – BAY AREA DISTRICT / MOUNT TAMALPAIS STATE PARK / MARIN, CA
The reporting location for this position is the Trails Shop at Mt. Tamalpias State Park in Marin, CA but will require overnight travel and long-term project coordination in all units within the Bay Area District. The Park Maintenance Assistant reports to Park Maintenance Chief I (Roads and Trails).
The Park Maintenance Assistant (PI) duties include routine maintenance of trails, roads, campgrounds and other facilities. Duties also include support of trail construction and re-construction and restoration activities. Will work with resource staff, and other cooperating partners on parks projects. Work will include heavy manual labor, extensive walking to and from work sites, hot summer temperatures, cold winter temperatures, other inclement conditions, and work in off trail environments. Remote work locations, camping, and overnight travel are expected.
The work schedule will be 8 days on and 6 days off. The incumbents work schedule will be Wednesday to Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM and will have Tuesday and Thursday off.
This position is currently eligible for a Recruitment and Retention pay differential for the Greater Bay Area. This pay differential is five percent (5%) of the base pay for each qualifying pay period and is in addition to the posted monthly salary range.
This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year. This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Typical work activities involve frequent periods of bending, stooping, and lifting. May have extensive exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. May work in remote locations.
