Kiewit Industrial Group is looking for a MEP Project Manager that can lead various projects more than $500 million for vertical buildings in the Advanced Technology Facilities (ATF) markets of semiconductor, data center, and battery manufacturing facilities. Duties will include but are not limited to leading a team of estimators, participating in, and implementing win strategies, preparing conceptual estimates using historical and current market data and metrics, presenting estimates to executive management and clients, reading and interpreting documents, soliciting subcontractors, analyzing drawings and specifications, providing lowest cost design options for the lowest cost installation of construction, value management, reviewing and assisting with proposals, and other duties as required to prepare cost estimates/proposals for various types of work, including self-perform.

District Overview

Cherne Contracting is one of Kiewits oldest districts. Founded in 1916. Cherne is a valuable part of Kiewit and is well known for safety and quality of execution in amazing projects within multiple market sectors including the Advanced Technologies market sectors. Alone and with other Kiewit districts through internal joint ventures, Cherne not only provides challenges but the stability and career development opportunities expected in a world-class multi-billion-dollar organization. This district supports our rapidly growing Industrial division.

Kiewit Industrial is a rapidly growing team, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Advanced Technology Facilities (ATF), Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities.

Location

This is a full time position, supporting projects across North America. In this role, you will be required to travel to project locations, for the duration of the project, as well as to Kiewit offices as required. Project location and durations may vary around the United States and Canada and we provide relocation to longer term projects and per diem options for shorter duration projects.

Responsibilities


  • Provide guidance to estimators and engineers in the development phase of a collaborative contract model. Own the project schedule/scope and budget for the project as it advances into construction.
  • Participate in task force meetings with the designers and engineers and bring constructability to the project solution.
  • Develop the logic behind the project schedule (sequencing works/work breakdown structure)
  • Communicate and present details to executive management, permitting agencies, stakeholders, owners; keeping stakeholders informed of the status of the project through regular meetings/reporting
  • Analyze drawings and specifications to evaluate risks and opportunities and engage with engineers to ensure design process is on schedule. Interface project controls/finance to ensure project is staying on time, within budget and risk is minimized.
  • Review and assist with proposals with the BD team, and work with the estimating team for various components of the work to evaluate the best value for money/options.
  • Support the selection of key subcontractors and trade partners for the project.
  • Demonstrate excellent collaborative behaviors in a multi-stakeholder environment and foster a culture of innovation.


Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in construction management, construction engineering, or other engineering/technical disciplines and at least 8 years of Project Management experience for engineering/construction projects. If no degree, at least 12 years of PM experience on engineering/construction projects.
  • Ability to generate conceptual estimates for the Advance Technology Facilities Construction market
  • Ability to lead estimates and multiple matrixed teams of engineers, project controls/schedulers assigned to your project.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time with strong focus on quality, safety and innovation.
  • Strong attention to detail; strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and team-building skills. Demonstrated success as a PM delivering projects on time and within budget, while minimizing risk.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Able to demonstrate strong leadership ability, agility to work at all levels and emotional resilience.
