POSITION SUMMARY

Wastewater Clerk performs general clerical work, minimal customer service, data entry, and in the requesting/receiving/processing of invoices. Performs data entry for service orders and material listing sheets. After an initial period of training in departmental policies and procedures, employee works independently in performing recurring duties. Professionalism, courtesy and firmness are required in dealing with the public and vendors. Work is performed under direct supervision and is evaluated by the efficiency and accuracy of duties performed.

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Some college preferred
• Training on Microsoft Windows preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license
• Must have 2 years’ experience in data entry
• Must have 2 years’ experience in an office environment and in dealing with customers
• Proficient in Microsoft word, excel and Outlook and typing 30-40 wpm
• Must have working experience on personal computers and general office machines
• Must have ability to perform mathematical computations, work and balance cash drawer with speed and accuracy.
• Ability to establish effective relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
• Ability to develop or improve practices or methods to be more productive and efficient
• Ability to read plans, maps and blueprints
• Ability to use measuring wheels and measuring tape
• Ability to understand and communicate policies, procedures, and services of the HWWS in order to make decisions in accordance with the fore mentioned and maintain accurate reports
• Ability to work with ease and accuracy during high volume periods
• Ability to perform tasks quickly and accurately
• Ability to remain composed in stressful situations
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to learn policies, procedures, and equipment operations related to the HWWS
• Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish in both basic and technical terms (preferred)
